League of Legends lets fans test out a series of champions for free every week, allowing you to try out someone new without unlocking them. Here’s the weekly League of Legends free champion rotation.

There are over 140 champions in League of Legends, each with completely unique abilities. With prices ranging all the way up to 6300 Blue Essence, it can be very difficult for fans to unlock all of the champions, especially if they’re newer players. In order to help remedy this, Riot Games releases a weekly rotation of champions who are free to play in Normal Draft and Blind modes.

Here is this week’s rotation of free champions and a little bit of information on their abilities and how to play them.

Free champion rotation

There are 16 champions available on the weekly free champion rotation each week, here are all of this week’s champions and how you can play them. The free champions this week are Graves, Jax, Miss Fortune, Morgana, Neeko, Sett, Shen, Singed, Sivir, Sylas, Teemo, Vladimir, Wukong, Yasuo, Zac, and Zilean.

Graves

Twisted Fate Graves cannon

Graves is an aggressive jungler who specializes in fast clears, high-damage ganks, and destroying squishy targets in the mid and late game. He’s able to be surprisingly tanky with a resistance-stacking passive, and is feared as a highly influential jungler able to skew the map in his team’s favor.

Jax

Jax recently got a rework, but his identity is the same. He’s a split-pushing top lane monster who specializes at countering champions who rely on auto-attacks. If you like shredding turrets apart, dueling the enemy top laner toe-to-toe, and enjoying the fantasy of the Grandmaster-at-Arms, Jax is the champion for you.

Miss Fortune

Miss Fortune is a poke-heavy AD carry laner who excels at bullying her opponents early game before transitioning into a team fight monster. With low mobility comes tons of damage, and Miss Fortune is able to dish out heaps of damage. Her ultimate is one of the best wombo-combo abilities in the game, creating a cone of damage that can destroy entire teams.

Morgana

Morgana is a peel-heavy support who also has plenty of pick potential. Morgana has one of the most-reviled pieces of crowd control in the game, a spell shield for allies, and an ultimate that can root multiple enemies. If your opponents’ team composition wants to sprint down your vulnerable carries, Morgana can stonewall those efforts with ease.

Neeko

League of Legends’ resident shapeshifter, Neeko is a tricksy mid laner who specializes in mind-gaming her opponents and pulling off quick picks alongside contributing to team fights. Able to morph to appear as though she’s a member of her own team, no champion can deek enemies out quite as effectively as Neeko.

Sett

Sett is a simple champion who loves nothing more than to run face-first into enemy teams. With the unique mechanic of turning damage taken into damage output via his Haymaker, Sett is a brawly top laner who’s perfect for players that want to run into and through all five enemies in a game on Summoner’s Rift.

Shen

Shen is a highly-defensive top laner who is able to split push a lane and still show up to a fight on the other side of the map at a moment’s notice. With the ability to save allies from auto-attacks and teleport to any ally with his ultimate, teamplay-focused players will love zipping all over the map as the Eye of Twilight.

Singed

Singed is an incredibly unusual champion. Rather than worrying about auto-attacks, trading patterns, or anything similar. Singed excels by running away from, through, and past enemies. Known for proxying waves behind his laner, Singed is probably one of the wackiest champions in the game, and players looking for something completely unique will love him.

Sivir

Sivir is an incredibly poke-heavy AD carry who’s best into champions with individual pieces of crowd control that they rely on to create catches. With a spell shield that restores mana when it blocks an ability, and an ultimate that helps speed her team up, Sivir is a hyper-scaling crit ADC who’s best in team fight compositions.

Sylas

Sylas is a battle mage who’s best into enemy teams with impactful ultimates. Able to steal his opponents’ ultimates, Sylas punishes champions with ultimate-reliant spikes of power, able to turn those very same abilities back around on the champions who possess them.

Teemo

Teemo was the most-hated champion in League of Legends for many years, only now having competition in Yuumi. Teemo is a poke top laner who shuts down auto-attack-reliant champions in key moments, and fills the map with magic damage-dealing mushrooms that protect his side lane split push.

Vladimir

Vladimir is a unique mid lane mage who gains health from AP and AP from health. One of the most hyper-scaling champions in all of League of Legends, able to swing team fights in ways almost no other champion can. If you like standing back in laning phase before sprinting towards enemies in the late game, Vladimir is the mage for you.

Wukong

A top lane brawler with a hugely influential ultimate, Wukong is a lane bully who scales well into the mid lane. Able to disappear, leaving a clone behind, and weave in and out of fights, Wukong is a slippery fighter like no other.

Yasuo

There are few champions who put together highlight reel plays like Yasuo. One of two melee champions who double their critical strike from items, Yasuo is a highly-mobile slayer who’s incredibly fun to play but still has a high skill ceiling. Even if it goes poorly, Yasuo always has his 0/10 powerspike to look forwards to, a long-running joke about overly-aggressive and under-skilled Yasuo players.

Zac

Zac is a powerful tank jungler with long-range engage and tons of crowd control. With the ability to build Ability Power for surprising damage, Zac is a versatile pick who dominated solo queue early in the year. There are few champions with the team fight influence of Zac, and players who enjoy contributing to objective fights should definitely pick him up this week.

Zilean

There’s only one champion who can preemptively save allies from death, and that’s Zilean. A mid laner and support flex, Zilean levels up teammates, unleashes bombs that control huge swaths of the map, and saves allies from imminent death.

Those are all the free characters in the weekly champion rotation.
