Danish organization Astralis has announced the first signing for its LEC roster ahead of the summer split after an uninspiring tenth-place finish in Spring.
Hungarian top laner Kiss “Vizicsacsi” Tamás signs on after having played the last split with Team GO in France’s LFL, a regional league below the LEC. He now makes it back to Europe’s most competitive division for the first time since his prior retirement in 2019.
Vizicsacsi announced his retirement in 2019 after a quarterfinals finish at that season’s World Championship with Splyce and since returned with Oceanic side PEACE as a last-minute pickup before Worlds 2021. He then joined GamersOrigin, now Team GO, for 2022. That squad finished sixth in the LFL before Vizicsacsi officially moved to Astralis.
His move to the Danish team was first rumored by leaker LEC Wooloo early last month and today’s announcement has now confirmed the news. He replaces the outgoing Matti “WhiteKnight” Sormunen who spent 1.5 years on the starting roster and is now thought to be joining mid laner Adam “LIDER” Ilyasov on a much-changed KOI roster in Spain’s SuperLiga.
Vizicsacsi headlines new Astralis LEC Summer roster
Vizicsacsi’s replacement of WhiteKnight is only the beginning of Astralis’ roster shuffle this off-season. The Danish sponsor is making drastic changes, something rare to see mid-season. It’s arguably necessary after such a poor spring split in which it managed a meager three wins.
Support Hampus Mikael “promisq” Abrahamsson’s departure was also announced at the same time as WhiteKnight’s back in March. Jungler Nikolay “Zanzarah” Akatov also announced his leave from Astralis roster and intent to explore alternative options.
LEC Wooloo indicates that the pair are set to be replaced by jungler Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir. Xerxe previously spent time with the org under the Origen brand in 2020. Rumors also point to Lee “JeongHoon” Jeong-hoon. The support player looks to be moving from Korea’s second-tier Challengers League having played for Fredit BRION Challengers in spring.
