A League of Legends pro player is being sued by an agency for breach of contract, here’s what you need to know.
Steven “Hans Sama” Liv, LEC Veteran and recent LCS import, is being sued by a previous agency, ARC, for hiring another agency to negotiate deals at the end of the 2021 season despite having an exclusive contract, according to sources who spoke to Jacob Wolf of the Jacob Wolf Report. Despite being under contract with ARC, Hans Sama had his negotiations finished by competing agency Proxy.
Pro player Hans Sama being sued by agency
Athletes Representation & Consulting, known as ARC, was contracted by Hans Sama during 2021 to exclusively negotiate his contracts until December 21, 2021. ARC alleges that Hans Sama knowingly hired another agency, Proxy, to negotiate his movement to Team Liquid in November 2022 despite still being under contract with ARC.
According to ARC, Hans Sama purposefully went around them in hiring Proxy to negotiate his contract with Team Liquid when leaving LEC team Rogue. While ARC itself did not comment, its legal representation did confirm to the Jacob Wolf Report that this lawsuit had been filed.
Another point in the filing says that Hans Sama did not pay the required fees to ARC during the end of his contract with the agency with his payments from both Rogue and Team Liquid.
The contract with ARC was set to automatically renew for 2022 unless Hans Sama or ARC told the other that they planned to discontinue the agreement, something ARC alleges the French ADC never did. Right now, ARC seems to only be seeking the unfulfilled 5% of earnings from 2021 and 2022, but given that neither Proxy nor Hans Sama has made comment, there may yet be more to the story.
For now, fans will have to wait for the lawsuit to move forwards in French court to see the results.
