The move was originally reported by The Shotcaller, and stands to give Echo Fox some much needed stability at the support position.
Starting alongside Smoothie in the bottom lane will be Echo Fox Academy ADC Carry Lawrence “Lost” Hui. A highly touted player with experience in the Oceanic Pro League under his belt, Lost will make his NA LCS debut with a former NA LCS MVP candidate supporting him.
Smoothie’s wealth of international and domestic experience in high pressure situations gives Echo Fox a dimension they sorely lacked compared to the other top teams in North America.
Echo Fox’s lineup changes were also accompanied by a slashing of player contracts across the board. Mid laner Kim “FeniX” Jae-hoon was reportedly released this afternoon, and ESPN’s Jacob Wolf’s report on the move. That report also spoke to the organization’s intention to release ADC Johnny “Altec” Ru and support Adrian “Adrian” Ma, the latter of whom had been benched in favor of Wang “Feng” Xiao-Feng after the opening weekend of the Summer Split.
While those cuts have not yet been made official, the information is supported by Echo Fox’s video which features both Tanner “Damonte” Damonte and Lost in the announcement of Smoothie joining the team.
Damonte has all but solidified the starter position in the mid lane in front of FeniX, but Echo Fox’s radical change in the bottom lane could help them to climb the ranks of the NA LCS.
