Cloud9 finally has something to smile about, securing its first unbeaten week in Week 6 of the 2018 NA LSC Summer Split.

Up until this week, Cloud9 has looked completely lost. A revolving door of a roster has seemingly done nothing to fix the team’s in-game indecision that has marred its results since the beginning of the split. Cloud9 sat in last place early on, looking like the worst team in the NA LCS.

After this weekend, Cloud9 may have found a new winning formula. Cloud9 has inched back into playoff contention, currently tied for fifth place with both TSM and Counter Logic Gaming. More importantly, it looks like it may have a fighting chance to reclaim its competitive honor.

Eric “Licorice” Ritchie has been nothing short of excellent in every iteration of the summer roster. Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen and Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi have settled comfortably back into their starting roles after early benchings. In the wake of Andy “Smoothie” Ta’s trade to Echo Fox, 100 Thieves Robert “Blaber” Huang and Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam have breathed new life into the team, showing surprisingly decisive maneuvers for rookies in a high pressure situation.

Perhaps Head Coach Bok “Reapered” Han-Gyu’s roster madness will pay off after all.

Cloud9’s second win of the weekend came against the team’s former support player Smoothie and his new team, Echo Fox. While the initial reaction for Cloud9’s success is surprise given their recent struggles, it’s easy to see how this roster could develop into a top team if given time.

Cloud9 has six games left to play in the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split. Its next three games are against the bottom teams in the league. Securing wins in these games will be crucial as Cloud9 will face Team Liquid, 100 Thieves, and FlyQuest in its final games of the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split.

The dream is still alive. And as Cloud9 fans know, strange things can happen in the LCS.
