22-year-old Astralis support Lee “JeongHoon” Jeong-hoon has been voted as the best rookie of the 2022 LEC Summer Split.
The player only competed after the mid-season break when Astralis made sweeping roster changes after a rough start to the split. He had never played in a tier-one league before the move and had previously only appeared for teams in Korea’s LCK Challengers League.
His arrival, along with the additionals of Kiss “Vizicsacsi” Tamás and Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir saw the organisation more than double their number of wins in the summer, however this was ultimately only enough to move the team from a 10th to 9th place finish.
JeongHoon himself provided some highlight plays during the split, looking especially dangerous when playing Pyke while also making an impact with meta picks such as Tahm Kench, Rakan and Renata Glasc. Despite the strong play from JegonHoon, Astralis’ 2022 LEC Summer Split will go down as a rough one. The team finished with a 7-11 record, settling into ninth place in the league and missing out on a chance at Worlds 2022.
Misfits Gaming’s Irrelevant, Team BDS’s Agresivoo earn second and third place for top rookie of 2022 LEC Summer Split
Misfits Gaming and Team BDS top laners Joel “Irrelevant” Miro Scharoll and Tobiasz “Agresivoo” Ciba took second and third-place honors for 2022 LEC Rookie of the Split. The award was voted for by LEC players, coaches and on-screen talent, as well as media. Points were given based on the first, second, and third-place votes from each participant.
Aside from JeongHoon, Irrelevant, and Agresivoo there was only one other rookie in the summer split, Team BDS’ Robert “Erdote” Nowak. Despite not earning enough votes for the top three, the Polish support did gain a handful of third-place votes.
