League of Legends’ Mid-Season Invitational is on its way to a nation that has never before hosted an international competition, MSI 2023 is coming to London.
If you want to experience the London Underground at rush hour, international LoL competition, and curry that might be spicier than the MSI games, it’s the perfect location. The location was announced earlier this year to much celebration from UK League of Legends fans. The United Kingdom has been one of League of Legends’ less-focused regions when it comes to both domestic European and international play. Here’s everything you need to know about how to attend this highlight of 2023 for League of Legends.
MSI 2023 details, location, dates, and more
The Mid-Season Invitational will be taking place in London, England, the capital of the United Kingdom. The thematic title for this year’s event is “Defy.” Riot Games often chooses an iconic, inspiring word or phrase to theme their international events around. This year’s tagline is coincidental to 2022’s upset world champion, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-Kyu. This is unlikely to be entirely a coincidence, as many fans also expect the year’s Worlds music video to focus on the ridiculous storyline of DRX’s climb through Worlds 2022.
MSI 2023 will be happening at the Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The MSI 2023 Play-In Stage will run from May 2 to 7, 2023. The Bracket Stage will run May 9 to 14 for the first week of play, and May 16 to 20 for the second week.
After that, the big finale of the Grand Finals will take place on May 21, 2023.

MSI 2023 will have a new format
There’s a brand-new MSI format coming to the event this year. Here’s what you need to know.
Each of the four major regions will receive an invitation for its top two teams rather than just one as it has been previously. These regions are the European LEC, the North American LCS, the Chinese LPL, and the Korean LCK. Five minor regions will receive an invitation for their single best team. These minor regions are the LLA, CBLOL, PCS, VCS, and LJL.
The first seed from each major region will receive automatic admission to the Bracket Stage. The second seeds and minor regions teams will have to compete to fill the remaining four slots in the Play-Ins Stage. From there, the remaining teams will play out a double-elimination bracket that includes a loser’s bracket, with the winner of the playoff bracket and the winner of the loser’s bracket playing in the finals.
