For the first time in a very long while, Dota 2 esports will have to make due without Johan “N0tail” Sundstein.

The OG captain announced that he is set to take at least a full year off from competitive Dota 2. This completes the dissolution of OG’s The International 2021 roster, with all the other players either stepping away from the game or being released

“I’m personally taking at least a year off, taking a health break so to speak… For now, all I know is that I need a break. I’m very content, very happy. I’m lucky to have played with the guys I’ve played with for the past two years. I feel fulfilled. But I need a break,” N0tail said in a statement on OG’s website.

What happened to N0tail?

Following TI10, N0tail has announced that he will be taking an extended break from pro Dota 2.

N0tail has been the lone constant throughout OG’s run as a top Dota 2 team, remaining active for each of the team’s four eras. He has four major titles to his name and two The International championships, something that no other player with the organization has.

While Anathan “ana” Pham and Sebastian “Ceb” Debs have both taken long breaks from the action during their careers, N0tail has always been there. That level of activity has clearly caught up with him and now he’s looking for a reset.

N0tail stated that he intends to stay around the organization’s Dota 2 team, but not as a competitor. Alongside this, fans will be able to keep up with the player as he spends more time streaming on Twitch.

OG will have all-new roster in 2022

With N0tail gone, OG announced that it will be rebuilding its Dota 2 lineup from scratch for the 2021-2022 Dota Pro Circuit season.

There is very little information regarding who might be on OG’s new roster, with only a few vague hints from the team over who might repping the brand come next season. OG has the chance to put together a star-studded roster. There is a long list of high-profile players on the free agent market at the moment and odds are that they wouldn’t mind being attached to a brand as prominent as OG.
