The Road to TI documentary reveals the careful decisions and planning behind the newest OG Dota 2 lineup.
OG and BMW have released a new documentary showcasing the legendary Dota 2 squad’s rebuilding process after The International 10. The retirement of star players and core OG members Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, and Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen marked the end of an era and a chance for a new roster to shine. New captain Mikhail “Misha” Agatov goes through each player and discusses what they bring to the new and rising squad.
The first part of the documentary focuses on Misha taking control of the team after N0tail and Ceb’s retirement. Misha and N0tail already had a close relationship before TI10, and immediately afterward Misha was given full control to assemble a top-tier team. The coach-turned-captain stated he wanted a team built around aggression and strength. Considering the new OG’s solid placings in the Western Europe Dota Pro Circuit, Misha has succeeded thus far.
Fans then get a peek at the team’s first in-person bootcamp before Misha goes over the process of selecting the players. Later the scene switches to an outdoor dinner featuring the players and N0tail. The squad discusses strategy, including a daring mid build that skips boots to rush Orchid of Malevolence.
“So you’re telling me people have made the wrong builds for five years?” asked mid laner Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov.
“Yeah,” N0tail answered.
Misha talks OG members’ strength in Road to TI documentary
The Road to TI documentary reveals the careful decisions and planning behind the newest OG Dota 2 lineup.
The new OG team started with Misha, who was formerly the team’s coach before becoming the new captain. From there, he sought out young talent that was willing to go all-in for the new season. The first pick was Tommy “Taiga” Le. Misha emphasized Taiga’s creativity and experience as a support player. Artem “Yuragi” Golubiev’s efficient and straightforward carry style made him the ideal third player for the team.
N0tail then explained how bzm’s solid communication and excellent mechanical skills made him a great fit for mid. The last player added to the team is controversial offlaner Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf. N0tail emphasized ATF’s unique take on patch 7.31 and offlaner scaling, though his cocky attitude probably also played a role in his joining the OG roster.
