After massive fan backlash about The International 2022 talent voice lines, Valve has completely changed the system.
After an outpouring of fan outcry and personal statements from featured talent, Valve has completely overhauled how to get talent voice lines for The International 2022. Fans can now directly purchase them to support individual talent or continue with the old method of unboxing them from capsules.
When TI11 talent voice lines were originally added, the only way to get them was to unbox a high-rarity sticker from the $1 loot box. The problem with that, as Dota 2 analysts Kyle Freedman pointed out, is that the odds of unboxing a specific talent were less than 1 in 1,000. But even before Kyle’s math, fans were already upset at their inability to support a specific talent member.
How to get TI11 talent voice lines
Here’s how to get TI11 talent voice lines with the new methods added by Valve.
- Open Dota 2 and navigate to The International 2022 battle pass
- On the left side of the screen, there’s a category column, including “Talent”
- From there, you’ll see a list of casters and commentators, organized by language
Each one costs $4.99 and instantly grants the respective voice line provided by the talent.
As for the proceeds, Valve keeps 50% of all voice line sales while the talent gets the other half. With the old capsule system, all the money was evenly distributed to all the persons featured. Now Dota 2 fans can support their favorite talking heads directly.
For Dota 2 players who already purchased TI11 talent autograph capsules, opening holo and gold version of talent stickers will still grant voice lines. The sticker itself must be consumed in the battle pass.
