Diretide week 18 will be easy as pie for Shadow Fiend players who love building Heaven’s Halberd.
We’re nearing the end of Diretide, and if Valve was having trouble coming up with missions before, it is truly scraping the bottom of the barrel now. This week’s tasks involve several basic missions, including healing from lifesteal, winning as a ranged hero, and accumulating kills and assists. It’s an easy week, but here are the best heroes and strategies to get it done fast.
Diretide battle pass week 18 mission guide
Never Played Out
Valve’s name for the introductory mission of Diretide week 18 is hard to see as anything other than a wink to the players. 15 games of Dota 2 is light work for pro players, though casual players may find that quota a little bit harder to reach after more than three straight months. After all, the odds of running into a Bloodstone Razor are much higher now than they were the past few weeks. Where’s that post-TI balance patch anyway?
Pop Goes The Greevil
Dota 2 is no game for pacifists, but there’s reason to leave greevils alive in week 18 of Diretide. This mission tasks players with hitting ten, 20, 40, 60, and 100 candies out of living greevils. The five-star reward certainly makes it worth the effort, so queueing for the game mode this late in the season is the real hard part of this mission. Heroes with frequent damage effects like Venomancer, Queen of Pain, and Bristleback are the most efficient picks, but any hero can accomplish this over the course of several games.
Dealer’s Choice
Kills and assists come naturally to all heroes in Dota 2, but Valve is rewarding it with more than just gold and experience this week. Heroes that can deal damage to all five heroes simultaneously such as Zeus or Spectre are the easiest option, but as long as you’re contributing to big fights, the three-star reward at 250 kills or assists should come naturally with time.
Snack Attack
Lifesteal is a central component of several heroes’ builds, but expect Morbid Mask and its associates to be even more popular this week. This mission rewards players for lifestealing 6,000, 16,000 and 35,000 health by attacking enemy heroes. Stick with Morbid Mask purchasers like Ursa, Drow Ranger, Morphling, and Shadow Fiend. It’s flashy upgrade Satanic will go miles towards progress. Neutral creeps and Roshan don’t count toward the total, and neither does Lifestealer’s titular Feast.
Missile Material
Unlike a certain other MOBA that will not be named, ranged heroes come with several downsides in Dota 2. They benefit less from several key items including Quelling Blade and Orb of Venom, and they must turn to face their targets for every hit. Even with those downsides in mind, it’s not that difficult to win two, five, and ten games. The only role that should struggle with this is offlane.
Here Hold This
Huskar players should rejoice at the final mission of Diretide week 18, which asks Dota 2 players to disarm enemy heroes. 15, 45, and 90 seconds is pretty difficult to reach with just Heaven’s Halberd, so look for area-of-effect disarms like Invoker’s Deafening Blast, Pangolier’s Lucky Shot, or the aforementioned Huskar’s Inner Fire. Really desperate players can always use Helm of the Dominator on a Kobold Soldier and hope it survives to hit three times.
