Twitter’s Rishi Chadha has revealed a number of statistics on gaming-related tweets in 2022, including the most-discussed games, esports teams, and players. The list of the top figures on Twitter includes a broad group with stars such as Genshin Impact, s1mple, Elden Ring, and more.
Chadha, the Global Head of Creator & Gaming Content Partnerships at Twitter, released a series of tweets detailing Twitter’s findings, beginning by revealing that Japan was the country tweeting most about gaming. Looking at specific games, the hugely popular Genshin Impact topped the list. Other titles such as Apex Legends, Elden Ring, Valorant, and Final Fantasy among the top ten.
Coming in second is the web-based Wordle. The daily word game likely ranks high on the list due to its copy-paste results mechanic which helped propel its popularity in 2021.
Moving on to gaming personalities and Japan were once again on top with Colon56N the most tweeted about gaming influencer. Popular Minecraft YouTuber Dream came in third, while a number of Spanish personalities made the top ten including KOI founder Ibai Llanos, who is coming off a record-breaking night on Twitch.
CBLOL, s1mple, and TenZ among Twitter’s most-talked-about esports figures
Brazil’s CBLOL, the country’s premier League of Legends league, was the most-tweeted-about esports league, and its current sixth-placed team LOUD was the most-tweeted-about esports team ahead of France’s Karmine Corp as both have huge legions of supporters.
Despite the games not being as widely discussed, it was Counter-Strike pro Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo who topped the esports player charts while Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, who is widely considered the best Counter-Strike player of all time, also made the top 10. Sentinels’ Valorant player Tyson “TenZ” Ngo came in second while French League of Legends organization Karmine Corp had two players in the top ten in Lucas “Cabochard” Simon-Meslet and Martin “Rekkles” Larsson.
