G2 Esports has just acquired an all-female League of Legends roster to expand its footprint in the scene.

G2 Esports recently signed G2 Gozen, an all-female Valorant roster. The esports organization decided its next all-female team would be in League of Legends. On September 1, G2 announced that it had signed Burger Flippers, one of the top women’s LoL teams in Europe.

League of Legends esports missing female players

G2 Hel was formerly known as Burger Flippers. The League of Legends team recently qualified for the GirlGamer World Championships after winning the qualifier in Romania.

While Burger Flippers was celebrated within the smaller community of League fans who watched the GirlGamer World Championships, most of the roster members are relatively unknown. AD Carry Maya “Caltyss” Henckel is the only player who has competed on a mixed-gender team.

The creation of G2 Hel was applauded by many in the scene. Mid Laner Alena “Tifa” Marer said that G2 signing the Burger Flippers roster is one way to “encourage the next generation of female gamers” to pursue a career in esports “without restrictions or limits.”

“Since I started my esports journey I’ve only had two goals in mind: to be the best and play with the best. I still have a long way to go, but joining G2 is a big step in the right direction. It’s very exciting to be a part of, literally, the best esport organization in Europe and I couldn’t imagine better teammates to start this next chapter with,” Caltyss said in a statement.

G2’s CEO Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez noted that G2 Hel will be performing at the same high level as G2 Gozen, one of the top squads in the Valorant Champions Tour Game Changers circuit. G2 Gozen has won three EMEA tournaments while competing in Game Changers.

G2 Hel roster for 2022

Here is the current G2 Hel roster:

  • Top lane: Olivia “Olizia” Nnenna Calistus
  • Jungle: Agnė “Karina” Ivaškevičiūtė
  • Mid lane: Alena “TIFA” Maurer
  • AD Carry: Maya “Caltys” Henckel
  • Support: Ève “Colomblbl” Monvoisin

G2 Hel was signed just in time to compete at the GirlGamer Esports Festival 2022 under its new branding. They will be representing Europe in the upcoming tournament.

The all-female League of Legends team is made up of several veterans within the women’s esports scene. The team brought together players formerly sponsored by SK Gaming and Nigma Galaxy. The team is likely to be a strong contender in women’s LoL competitions moving forward.
