Will Avalanche Software release Hogwarts Legacy 2? The developer might already be working on the sequel to the game.

Hogwarts Legacy was released on February 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, quickly becoming a sensation. Despite the ongoing boycott, the game has sold over 12 million copies worldwide. These numbers are expected to go up when the game is released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The game has been out for less than a month, and players are already claiming a sequel. The good news is the project might be already in the works.

In an interview with Variety, Warner Bros Games president David Haddad revealed key information about the current state of Hogwarts Legacy and its feature.

“So far, we have tracked over 152 million hours played, 173 million magical plants grown, 115 million potions brewed, and 556 million Dark Wizards defeated,” said Haddad on February 16. At the time of this publication, the number of hours played increased drastically to 267 million.

Haddad also shared that Warner Bros is looking at “Hogwarts Legacy” as a long-term franchise. This vision means not only more video games but also the TV adaptation that is rumored to be currently in development.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Release Date

Despite Warner’s eagerness to turn Hogwarts Legacy into its next successful franchise, it might take years to get a sequel to the game.

Game development cycles are long. Hogwarts Legacy took five years to be developed, with a delay in its release date. Studios are aware of the consequences of releasing half-finished games, and if Warner wants fans to stay happy, they cannot rush the process.

The game might have some kind of DLC in the near future, with more quests for players to complete. A completely new game won’t arrive on the market until 2026 at the earliest.
