Persona 3 Portable is coming out in January 2023, featuring the only female protagonist in the series.
The female protagonist in Persona 3 Portable is exclusive to this game. She is an addition from the developers in the extended version of the game and is likely to be present in the newest version of the game. Choosing the female or male protagonist in Persona 3 Portable impacts the gameplay because of the differences between characters.
Should I play as male or female in Person 3 Portable?
Both protagonists share the same backstory but have different gameplay opportunites.
They are orphans enrolling in Gekkoukan High School. They lost their parents in a car accident on the Moonlight Bridge. At the new school, the protagonist becomes aware of the Dark Hour and, soon after, joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, or SEES for short.
That’s where similarities end.
The female protagonist in Persona 3 Portable carries a naginata, a pole weapon with a blade in the end. This is a traditional Japanese weapon, used by samurai and female warriors belonging to the Japanese nobility. The female protagonist is more likely to have a violent reaction when her friends are at risk.
In terms of personality, she’s described as bubbly, upbeat, and funny. These traits make it so she can initiate social links with all party members. Certain social links can change part of the story. Overall, her interactions are different from the ones of the male protagonist. She is more opinionated and friendlier.
As the female protagonist, players get to choose Igor’s assistant. Players can go for a male or female assistant. The male option unlocks Theodore, a character that is only available this way.
From a visual perspective, she is seen wearing clothes that are red or orange. She’s also the shortest protagonist in the Persona series. Choosing this character also changes the in-game interface which becomes pink.
