Political streamer Steven “Destiny” Bonnell was recently banned from Twitch. Even though it’s currently unclear what exactly led to the latest Twitch ban, World of Warcraft streamer Asmongold apparently feels that it’s for the best.
Destiny came forward on a recent YouTube stream to discuss the reason behind his ban. According to Destiny, the possible reasons Twitch pointed to in an email included supporting a hate crime or advocating for the exclusion of a group of people based on their disability.
Even though the specific reason was not spelled out in the email, Destiny theorized that it could have been due to him stating that trans women “shouldn’t compete with cis women” in athletic competitions. Destiny is no stranger to sharing controversial opinions like this one, and some in the streaming community feel that this latest ban was a blessing for the political streamer.
Asmongold discusses Destiny permaban from Twitch
Asmongold is an opinionated streamer himself. The World of Warcraft player is often under fire for his strong opinions. It’s no surprise that Asmongold has decided to voice his thoughts on Destiny’s controversial ban.
“My honest opinion about the Destiny ban is that they did him a favor. Destiny has cut his more controversial and edgy content, where he shines as a creator,” Asmongold said.
According to Asmongold, the Twitch ban will allow Destiny to produce content with “better integrity, depth, and more complexity” on YouTube.
“He can explore boundaries that Twitch prevented him from doing,” Asmongold said.
Can Destiny return to Twitch?
Destiny has been banned from Twitch multiple times, which is why his most recent infraction led to a greater ban from the platform. The only way to get his account back is to appeal the punishment and come out on top. Unfortunately, he’s already appealed in the past and failed. This leaves Destiny’s future on Twitch looking uncertain.
