Asmongold is not happy with the current state of the WoW Classic Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
To the surprise of few in the streaming community, Asmongold has another complaint about World of Warcraft. The streamer has been broadcasting his adventures in the MMORPG since 2014 and has often run into issues with the game’s design and development choices.
This time around, Asmongold is frustrated with long queue times and slow servers. The issues are so severe that Asmongold has decided to call out Blizzard directly.
What are the issues with World of Warcraft Classic: Wrath of the Lich King?
During a recent stream, Asmongold called the World of Warcraft Classic: Wrath of the Lich King expansion “unplayable.”
Asmongold reacted to a video ranting about the long queue times for WoW Classic’s Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The YouTuber started the video by showing an estimated wait time of over 260 minutes. He was nearly 13,100th in the queue of players waiting to get into a mega server.
“That’s too many f—— people,” Asmongold said. “I don’t understand. Nobody wants to be on the dead server.”
The YouTuber explained that it took several hours to access the servers, something he is paying a premium for each month. Asmongold added that it’s like paying money to wait in line at the DMV. Asmongold said that he had to have his mom stay on his account to keep him from being logged out so he could “sleep and then stream again” without being booted from the game.
Essentially, people aren’t logging out in an attempt to not lose their place in line. The YouTuber said that three to four hours before people get out of work, they are logging into WoW remotely in an attempt to get into the game by the time they’re home. This creates a longer queue of people. Asmongold said that he would do the same for New World so he wouldn’t have to sit in a queue again.
“Welcome to my world,” Asmongold said. “Whenever you’re in a 20-man world PvP encounter in retail World of Warcraft, the servers stop working. F—, you could do an AoE pull and the servers lag,” Asmongold said. “It’s insane. It’s absolutely crazy how bad these servers are.”
Asmongold felt that this type of issue shouldn’t be happening in 2022. The YouTuber explained that this was similar to what happened when World of Warcraft Classic was first launched in 2018. Years later, the WoW community is facing the same problem.
And the game hasn’t even come out yet. World of Warcraft players are predicting that this expansion will be the biggest yet, meaning even bigger queues when it comes out in 20 days.
“I think that I may have underestimated how many people started in Wrath of the Litch King. Their Wrath is my Classic,” Asmongold said.
It’s currently unclear if Blizzard will attempt to fix this issue when the expansion launches. With only a few weeks to go it’s not looking likely, but players are holding out hope. And since many players have guildmates and friends on the more popular servers, moving to a less populated server is not always a viable option, leaving them in the large queues for hours.
