Riot Games’ hit animated series, Arcane, debuted on Netflix in November to rave reviews and fans have created a new filter that emulates its distinctive style.
The art style of Fortiche Productions’ gritty Piltover and Zaun was a subject of much praise from fans and critics. Fans have made a program that can show Faker’s Arcane incarnation, and you can transport yourself into the world of Arcane as well.
What is ArcaneGAN?
ArcaneGAN is a free-to-use, free-to-replicate software that takes photos and transforms them into something similar to the distinct art style of Arcane. Fans have been using the program to see what their favorite celebrities, players, and characters would look like if they were transposed to Arcane.
We’ve even converted the Unkillable Demon King himself, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, into Arcane’s style thanks to ArcaneGAN. It’s not limited to multi-time world champions either, anybody can see how they’d look in Arcane with the program. It’s picked up popularity with the League of Legends fandom so sometimes you can be in for quite a wait before your picture gets converted over.
Usually the site has several hundred requests at any given moment, but late in the day for North America is the best time to try. Most images take anywhere from ten minutes to half an hour in order to finish processing, so don’t hold your breath for it to happen instantly. There are lots of Arcane fans trying to transform themselves for a new profile picture, or just a laugh in a group chat.
Does ArcaneGAN sell the pictures used?
No, ArcaneGAN does not sell pictures fans have created. It’s a program that wary parties can download from GitHub and run from yourself. There’s no worry here about some company selling facial imaging data to some shady third party, just Arcane fans creating more of what they love.
